As My Eyes Met The Light Poem by Mohammad Younus

As My Eyes Met The Light

As my eyes met the Light,
My dark self turned away,
For the Light held answers
Too heavy for the shadows to bear.

The Light restored my heart,
Filling what seemed to be missing—
Love, vibrant and alive,
Returning after a long departure.

In love's absence,
I stood a stranger to myself,
Lost in the maze of mundane thoughts.
But I had to release these thoughts,
To make room for divine whispers—
The thoughts my soul truly deserved.

The Light cascaded from the Divine,
Stillness soothing my mind,
Filling my heart
With profound love and peace.

It came when I bade farewell
To my false self.
But how do I tell you—
The Silence that followed the Goodbye
Was the true divine silence,
A silent call from the Lord,
Beckoning me to stay—
Forever, ever, and rever.
