As People As Such Poem by Francis Duggan

As People As Such

As people as such they may not be so great
The so called living legends that we help to create
Biographies of them have become many a best selling book
Yet the unsung heroes we tend to overlook
It hardly does seem an unfair thing to say
That the most celebrated of people are flawed in some way
We may sing their praises to them drink a toast
Though they may be flawed even more so than most
Life's winners and losers too often we do read of and hear about
Words used in such a context that we can do without
Those into comparing of people lack in self love it does seem
And are handicapped by their sense of low self esteem
But the kind and compassionate are worthy of praise
And my toasting glass to them I'm happy to raise.
