As You See, We Were Born We Are Leaving Poem by Nilufer Dursun

As You See, We Were Born We Are Leaving

AS YOU SEE, WE WERE BORN WE ARE LEAVING

I Perhaps, an early morning
If the order comes from the God
Nightingale had to remain silent, azan had to given the call to pray
Sun had to raise
I have to see the first lights,
My heart must become clear
My body must heat

I’ve been dead, that’s okay
I don’t care, but still
I want to wake up,
To get up,
To shave, have breakfast
When I smoke half of my cigarette
To ship my tea,
At the balcony with my wife
I want to drink my morning coffee

II The day may be Friday
Around noon…
With Ahmet Tufan in vineyards of Seyran
I have to blend the soup in the kitchen,
Perform the namaz later,
To eat lunch drink coffee
To talk, debate, forgive each other,
I don’t care my unfinished poems will remain half
They’ll be published by someone
The men whom I think to remember,
At their fifth, fiftieth, hundredth years,
Someone will remember their anniversaries of death without me
It’s enough to be unforgetable by my comrades.

III Departures full of cries of stres,
Are not suited to me
A few hours have to be spend as much as my life who I lived,
With the good people, the ones whom I kept alive and loved…
‘Death is the order of God’ my only desire:
Looks like the girls whom I kissed their cheeks,
Death has to be seen the beautiness of a bride to me!

I don’t care ‘He slept, never woke up’ they said,
Living was nice, I spent good time,
I washed in it’s cool water, got cool,
Picked up delicious fruits, ate
Death sherbet has to be served now
By the responsible angel of God
I also want to take and drink,
