As Your Friends They Do Stay Poem by Francis Duggan

As Your Friends They Do Stay

Your acquaintances in numbers do grow
And many you visually know
But when I say your friends are so few
I'm not telling you anything new
In the park, shopping complex and street
Everyday more new people you meet
They come to your life and they go
And goodbye always follows hello
But your friends as your friends they do stay
And though from you they may live far away
The bond of friendship you retain
And as your friends they will remain
Till the breath of life from you depart
They will have a place in your heart.
