Baby Leaves

of umbrella trees
in Adelaide
in the second week
of Feb seventeen,
burnt crisp black
during three
consecutive
forty degree
days,
fell down
covering the ground
like big ash
and little ninjas,
and were gathered
and documented
by me
photographic-
and poetic-
ally.
