Back In Business Poem by Charlie F. Kane

Back In Business

We passed along the way,
He smiled and shook my hand.
We spoke of many things,
Fools, philosophy and kings.
It came as a surprise,
He thought I’d lost my way
All that time ago.
But not me, because I never went away.
I stayed, I was here, all the time along.

He thought we’d said goodbye,
All that time ago,
But not me,
I’m ready to make amends.
We spoke,
He said,
“I believe you’ve found your way”,
But not me, I never had lost my way,
I stayed, I was here, all that time along.

He’d thought I’d gone,
And left him all alone,
All that time ago,
But not me,
I’m ready to work again,
Because I just never went away,
I’ve waited for this day,
So I never lost my way,
I stayed, I was here, all that time along.
