Back Scratchers Stabbed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Back Scratchers Stabbed

The rising demise,
Of accepted deception.
'Thisclose'...
From being perfected.
With nearly most of the public,
Involved and giving...
Dishonesty full support.
Have begun to abort,
Quid pro quo activities.
Once conducted privately.
By those in high places.
Sitting defiantly,
Undermining positions they hold.
Telling incredible,
Lies told to buy.
And them bought to sell.

Back scratchers stabbed.
As the itch of schemes.
Began getting too addicting.
Leaving the drug of power,
On an hourly basis...
Too seducing to refuse.
All participating wanted a taste,
Of what it takes...
To persuade others to evade the rules.
But they were not the fools,
Believed could be used.

Back scratchers began,
Stabbing one another.
And squealing like pigs.
With assistance from stool pigeons.
Blowing their whistles.
In the ears of authorities.
Seeking proof and evidence.
Of who did what first to do.

Beginning the demise,
Of a rising deception.
Leaving the people,
As if surprised and shocked.
Pretending this kind of corruption,
And blatant crime.
Is appalling to have existed.
Although announced on a daily basis,
By one self anointed...
And afflicted with ego,
Those narcissistic envy.
To proclaim what was done...
Was meant and intended.
Although meant not to intend,
Misunderstanding to begin.
Since what was really wanted,
Had been attention to get.
And loyalty.
Obviously disobeyed.
By those who betray....
Explicit and specific directions.

"Excuse me.
But...
You have just contradicted yourself."

-And if I did,
So what.
Get over it! -
