Back To Reality Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Back To Reality

Time is not our friend
We followed all his timelines
Meeting schedules and busy timetables
We even neglected our children
Telling them to stop idling
And do something with their time
Trying to satisfy the gaping mouth of time
We spent our spare time on useless equations
Instead of pursuing our spiritual growth
We got home late
Full of anxiety and stress
We even stopped teaching our children the truth
And gave them tutorials on time keeping
We did not tolerate late coming
Preferring to keep time
We neglected our spiritual development
Because it does not recognize time
We even closed the door to our hearts
Because it was not hinged on reality
We were obsessed with time
But then time kept moving
Time gave us seasons
Including winter
But we refused to heed the calls
To stop worshipping time
Time killed our friends and family
Yet we did not stop and reflect
Time stole our years
And made us old
We never asked any questions
But now time is killing us
And we are afraid to ask why
Is it possible that we are chasing the wrong reality?
Maybe time is not on our side
And we are probably out of time
Maybe we are from the land of eternity
Where time is non-existent
Maybe we are spiritual beings
And time was never on our agenda

Maybe time is not on our side but still we hope time will help us to get recovery. A brilliant poem is amazingly penned.
