Baggage Poem by Barry Van Allen

Baggage

Rating: 5.0

I will carry yours for you,
if you dare carry mine for me,
who says that is all there is,
and all points in between ?

I propose a new approach - - -
... let's toss one here and there,
as our train moves slowly down it's tracks,
... let's eject the past , at last ,
and try to see if we are better .

I know that there's a risk involved,
but, I think that we both know,
that nothing ever has been gained,
without potential deadly blows.

As every suitcase left behind,
proves we could be right,
there is the chance ...
that great romance ...
with work and more work, and work again,
... could happen overnight !

I will carry yours for you,
and when your ready, I will toss it ,
Will you carry mine for me,
and when I am ready, will you toss it ?

When we approach the station,
will we arrive as... US,
and disembark to our future life,
without that past discussion ...
- - - ever again ?

If that past would dare intrude,
we would attack it as a unit now,
and reject the ' once before',
because we are now together,
and will be forever more!

Baggage, we can stow it, stuff it, put a lock on it but if we think it won't affect the future we're only fooling ourselves... sharing the load and understanding each others load......well Barry your poem says it! ! ! ..................................Diane

Wow...This is so funny to me...not funny haha, but funny...in that...I occasionally think of myself as a baggage handler. I deal with people all the time...and I have never found anyone yet, who doesn't at least have a small handbag with them on the train of life. I take their baggage, and show them where and how to safely store it, and then help them back on the train of life, so that they may continue on their trip. It's what I do...it's likely...what I have always done (well, since I was about 18 anyway...) So...I understand your poem...very well indeed! Hugs, dee
