Ballad Of The Miner Poem by Kinyua Karanja

Ballad Of The Miner

Rating: 5.0

I say I missed my own wedding
Long a go back in my heydays
I made a name as a gold miner
Giving me joy and pain in many ways.

In one of those fine days
I luckily met a lovely young dove
So hot and beautiful like an Angel
I couldn't help and so fell in love.

Long a go back in my heydays
World was all different, I say!
Love and act was a protocol like
Things to pray and some to pay.

Days passed like a flowing stream
It was time, I had to propose
But not before falling in and out
Of love, and she couldn't oppose.

Long a go back in my heydays
I took her home to the folks
As it was our culture and custom
To be seen and for some talks.

We met family and friends alike
And were more than impressed
She has all what matters for a wife
And wedding plans were processed.

Long a go back in my heydays
Less a week before the wedding
From my boss I received a call
He wanted a favour or something

Among miners and mining fraternity
In tunnels safety I had a reputation
Cracks in the tunnels, there was fear
And so I went to assess the situation.

Hell broke loose, then a disaster
Trapped in tunnels a mile deep
Together with a dozen of miners
In this heck, my heart had to weep.

Long a go back in my heydays
I had spent weeks in tunnels before
But this time; it's a heart breaking
To fail showing up in this fan galore.

Like nothing had happen anywhere
They held the wedding in innocence
Only to learn of my tragedy in evening
And all was not well in my absence.

Missing own wedding amazes mind. Like nothing had happend anywhere they held the wedding in innocence. Tragedy in evening scribbled mind. And all was not well in your absence. Such thing happened and still love remained. Amazing story poem you have shared here.10
