Bamidele Poem by Adekunle Adedigba

Bamidele

Rating: 4.5

I walked among renowned men
In lands near and far
Nor Dele! Did I know till then
What love I had for you.

It’s more than that shapeless dream!
Nor will I quit your shore
A first time; for still I seem
To love you more and more.

Yours is the last green field
My touchy eyes surveyed
I feel among your mountains
The joy of my desire.

And I can listen to you yet;
Can lie upon your plain
And listen till we do beget
That golden time again.

A virtuous woman, nobly planned
Good to teach, comfort and command
You are yet a spirit, still bright
Always with me with something of an angel-light.

Happy Birthday this January day!
This beautiful day with gleaming light
If there be stars paraded in the skies
Yours should be the leading one.
