Pretty Girl Goes Married Poem by Adekunle Adedigba

Pretty Girl Goes Married

pretty girl
I am happy for you, truly
that's my girl...crawling the aisle-
so all good mothers have done
painting the skies, colouring the sands
and make us proud we are on ground.
only one tear have I to shed
we have a Miss to miss-
whom we would lose to a happy wedding kiss.

but now we pray from our hearts
that mountains tumble, crumble into your valleys
spill to your rough roads, make them streetwise
and then we come to your home, find quiet
and sit down to eat the daisies and the fruits
of two separate arts of a common heart.
