Baptism Of Fire Poem by Mark Heathcote

Baptism Of Fire

Time has a baptism of fire
It's flames coil with desire
Kindle unspent leaps into flame
And hangs your head in shame
Tarnished or iridescent as the morning dew
This anointing moment is for you
Oh, where can a spangled rainbow hide?
The curtains are open with the blind
It's time to lower your head
Absolve yourself before you're dead
Fetch the priest; your time is done
And pray you were loved at least by one.
