Bapu Is No More Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Bapu Is No More

Rating: 5.0

Today Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) is no more
Yet his memory is not frozen in store
Today once in year I glanced at his picture
I sensed he was in trouble for sure

“Why Bapu tears in your eyes” I questioned
“The same thing is going on fir years´ I mentioned
Yes my dear for the same I feel bad and in tears
I have spent troubled moments for the long years

Bapu, whole country is happy and no trouble
Leaders are aligned properly and capable
Very much defensive and impregnable fortress
Not single thread of corruption can be traced

They claim very much holy and defender
Constitution is supreme and your picture
Everything under your name and aspiration
They draw strength and power from your relation

You lived half clad and walked on feet
Spun the cloth self and stood in self to greet
But there is little change here in your followers
They want none at the gate and need only palaces and towers

Bapu, don’t you think it was grave mistake
You simply sacrificed life when nothing was at stake
They waited for you to depart at early stage
You were hurdle and handicap to manage

You need not cry as everybody is happy
We can barter national interest and ready
Our solders are daily dying for motherland
They are just obeying in our holy land

Bapu, worry not we are all safe and tuned
No disease can kill us as we are immune
We carry water in our vanes hence no feeling
We shed blood and go for open spree and killing

We never missed you as we face same brutal button charge
Previously it was by whites and now in hands of locals at large
Bapu, we are one but divided over, religion, cast, color and creed
We celebrate your anniversary once a year with known greed

* An address for father of the Indian nation*
