Be Grateful Poem by Edwina Reizer

Be Grateful

I take a step and move a little slower
with every passing day.
I write my music to fit that tempo
and I find it easier to play.

I used to move my fingers with quickness
the way my head told them to.
I remember with fondness all the movement
but now that all is through.

I settle for slower progressions
and make them come alive
with the sounds I still remember
from the age of twenty-five.

Be thankful girl. The gift's still there.
It's still a part of you.
Thank your Maker on every day
until your life is through.
