I loved to sing, and how you new it.
(I never pretend that I’m the best)
But your kind appreciation,
- Harsh tongue; Malicious acts,
Drove me down this shaft,
Where there is no light.
You praised my voice.
Then killed the soul.
And with it you took my confidence.
And now I lay upon the ground, in fear,
For what they want to hear.
The tears a-dripping from my eyes,
A muddled heap in disguise,
But that was then and this is why,
I vowed so very long ago,
To never sing again for any human,
Indirectly or directly, So,
Now you see what I’ve become,
Secluded, to me self induced silence,
Only when I am alone,
Do my cords ring strong and proud once more,
For no-one but myself - and the closed front door.
