Becoming A Boxer Poem by Randy McClave

Becoming A Boxer

When I was born
I was first then told to fight,
So, without scorn
I punched with my left and then right.

When I went to school
Lessons by teacher's I was taught,
But, I was not to be harassed or a fool
So, bullies I readily fought.

When I went to the school cafeteria
I was told not to let others take my lunch,
Knowing my parents criteria
So, those school tormentors I punched.

When I went to Church on Sunday
The pastor taught me of Hell and its fiery pit,
Unto the Lord for his love I did pray
And the Devil I was taught to hit.

Whenever I needed to protect that or this
Or whenever I needed to be a protector,
I would always use my fist
One day I then became a boxer.
