Behind These Walls Poem by moon batchelder

Behind These Walls

Rating: 5.0

behind these walls i'm not confused.
behind these walls is peace.
i know each shadow cast by name,
each flicker of the candles flame,
the murmur of the muse.

behind these walls, no need to hide.
the masks disintegrate.
i toss my costumes to the floor
the moment i walk through the door;
no need to shield my pride.

behind these walls i cry my tears
i write my poems and laugh.
and drink the nectar of my soul.
behind these walls i lose control,
surrender to my fears.

behind these walls i'm not alone;
surrounded by myself.
and every one i've ever met
within my mind are silhouettes
their influences known,
behind these walls.

A wonderful piece, moon! I thouroughly enjoyed it - especially, because I know so well what 'Behind These Walls' means. All the best and kind regards, Mandy
