Birds Fluttered Near Poem by moon batchelder

Birds Fluttered Near

Rating: 5.0

birds fluttered near as if no one were there;
to sit so still so long a gift too rare

for human types. - thus did they feature me
about as threatening as any tree.

nor seemed to fear that i would sudden move.
and doing nothing to such trust disprove,

i sat in silence half the day at least;
there visited by varied birds and beasts.

thus creatures went about their daily rounds
while i sat meditating on the ground.
