Belated Achiever Poem by Hannington Mumo

Belated Achiever

Belated Achiever
Belated achiever's life's sad:
The Joneses have their cars,
Philips own their regular pay
And Alexes are with the stars.

You shed a tear in the day,
And brave such sundry fights
As the Bensons placidly snore
Away their magnificent nights.

Divine clemency that tarries yet
Is your lingering wobbling hope;
And fickle kith and kin do hate
Belated achiever for his penury.

So it's all sad woe upon sad woe
As blood and friendship turn foe.
