Belief Poem by Pondering Portrait

With a beating belief
And a souring spirit
With fluttering faith
And the strength to bear it
With a chorus of conviction
And the songs of serenity
In my healing heart
I sing to victory

I cannot see beyond
The minutes I now live
And I must confess
The bleakness haunts me

It creeps right beneath
The darkness of my very shadow
Crossing my conscious guard
Pulling me beneath its mercy

I will resist the hissing
Of its whispers of pure malice
I’ll stomp on it till I’ve risen
When I can no longer fall


With the valiant wings
Of an angel at flight
And with boldest bravery
Of the heart of an eagle’s call

I’ll outwit the cleverest
And outrun the fastest winds
I’ll outshine the very sun
And beam with modest pride

Smiling through the worst
Holding my head high
A blessed perseverance
With my faith by my side
