Believe Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Believe

Believe the confusion.
Believe the conflict.
Believe the corruption.
Done religiously in politics.
Believe the bigotry.
And its rise to promote racial hatred.
Believe the division.
And the nonsense indifference permits.

But...
Do not disbelieve,
Your resistance to end this...
Is not today in need.
Since whatever you do that can assist,
With others participating.
Will and can restore to revive,
This puzzle split apart into pieces.
Done to do by those who claim,
The picture of it...
Does not represent a true depiction.
Of a reality they wish not to exist.

Believe.
In that which you have been made to see,
Is in fact...
Unbelievable.
And it is.
Since 'that' belief to keep,
Is an intention meant to accept.
Until it becomes normalized.
Leaving no one to object.

Believe.
This is not a quality of life.
Allowed to take a nose dive.
Believe this can be fixed.
To reverse and correct,
The direction of it.

Believe the confusion.
Believe the conflict.
Believe the bigotry.
And the tension behind,
The rise of racial hatred.
And who permits this to exist.

However...
Do not disbelieve,
You and others can resist this nonsense.
Whatever you do,
To resist the putting an end to this...
Crazed mentality permitted.
Is needed.
Since this picture to depict reality,
Is not the one to claim.
To then believe it kept to live.
Believe...
In all you see today,
Is unbelievable.
Because that belief to keep is real.
It is...
Too unbelievable to keep believed.
