Beloved Distractions Poem by Jessie Stowers

Beloved Distractions

My beloved escape,
Put reality behind me.
My life please reshape,
Make me finally feel free.

I know you are an illusion,
You can't last forever.
But relieve my inner demon,
I'm not much of a fighter.

Take my mind away from everything,
Help me attempt to forget.
I feel my emotions boiling,
To my sanity it is a threat.

Take me far away,
To a life that isn't mine.
If only just for a day,
I won't feel hung on a vine.

This vine of twisted terror,
Mixed with fear and false hope.
Never can I find the answers,
Harder it is getting to cope.

I will beg on my knees,
Distract me from the storm.
You hear my pathetic pleas,
Myself you can transform.

Provide me with your mercy,
I'm losing the battle within.
These wars are so damn bloody,
The fights with myself I never win.
