Broken Heart Poem by Jessie Stowers

Broken Heart

Maybe if it stopped beating,
It wouldn't kill me always.
In between the lines I've been reading,
Living in a painful haze.

I can't feel if I'm still breathing,
The circulation has been cut off.
Always I'm dripping bleeding,
Yet you stand there to simply scoff.

I can't find the pieces anywhere,
Scattered too far to find.
The pain is really too much to bear,
To my feelings you must be blind.

It only beat for you,
Continues to beat for you still.
Was any of it true,
Or did you play me by sheer will?

Hurting so much it's numb,
The screaming is masked.
You can hear it quickly drum,
When your memory it clasped.

Can you hear my wailing cries,
Its constant soulful whispers?
When that last tear drops and dries,
It entirely quicks and shivers.

To you solely it was bound,
As it forever will remain.
I feel entrapped in the ground,
Emotions flowing down the drain.

It commands I close my eyes,
And entrust in you completely.
Somewhere within emotion lies,
If only proceeding discretely.

Keep yourself hidden,
They're only out for blood.
In these word's I've written,
Warning of the coming flood.

Maybe it will never heal,
Or it will always yearn for you.
Maybe with me it will cut a deal,
And to others let you be true.
