Beneath The Boughs Of The Ancient Chinar Poem by Mohammad Younus

Beneath The Boughs Of The Ancient Chinar

Beneath the boughs of the ancient chinar,
Where wisdom drifts on whispered breeze,
I stood in silence, still and small,
To hear its song among the leaves.

'My song runs deep where roots embrace
The hush of time, the buried lore.
I've watched the sages come and go,
Their hearts like flame, their spirits pure.
They braved the storm, the lightning's cry,
Yet sought their peace beneath my sky.'

Its branches stretched like blessing hands,
Their shadow cool, their touch divine.
And in that moment, soft and slow,
A light within began to shine.
I asked, 'O guardian of the years,
What wisdom soothes this world of fears? '
It sighed, a murmur soft and low:

'To bend, not break, is all you must know.
The winds may howl, the rains may pour,
The weight of time may bend your spine,
Yet still you stand—unbowed, yet free,
For embracing my grace is the purpose divine.
To flow with life, to trust, to see unity—
This is the path to harmony.'

I bowed before the chinar's might,
Its truth a beacon through the night.
For in its bark, its leaves, its core,
Lay wisdom deep—forevermore.
