Best Friend Poem by Michael Chau

Best Friend

Rating: 5.0

Shhh. Something’s coming from someplace I don’t know.
It’s coming in fast and definitely not slow.
It came from somewhere, maybe behind that tree.
All I know is that it’s coming for me.
As I stay in one place, I look left, I look right.
I can’t see where it is, it is surely out of sight.
Then I went to the tree to see what is here.
But when I got there, it was gone, the thing disappeared.
So I go back to my spot, safe and sound.
Right then I heard a noise, and I turned around.
I saw something sharp, coming my way.
This had to be my end, so then I just stayed.
I closed my eyes to not see my threat.
And when the creature came close, my hands they were wet.
When I opened my eyes I could not believe.
That it was just my pet dog, little old Steve.
So I padded his head, he likes it this way.
Then something came over and he ran away.
As I looked up and saw it, I just stared in fear.
And then I asked “What are you doing here? ”
Then I just stared as he took out a knife.
My close and best friend is about to take my life.
