Between Lies Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Between Lies

Uninformed and easy to manipulate,
Are the many who chase rainbows...
If told the doing,
Will eliminate their aches and pains.
And remain to choose and believe,
Anything they hear not to witness...
To observe but made prepared to defend.
With it then to begin arguments,
Done to start without knowing the truth.
Or have experienced reality,
To identify what truth is to live...
If asked,
How could they recognize the difference...
Between lies told by a clown.
Or an obscenity spewing politician...
Treating a position he holds as if a joke.
And the World he perceives,
Is a circus permitting him to be...
The Master of Ceremonies.
Preferring and choosing who gets to perform!
Those uninformed and easy to manipulate,
Have shown they will go along...
As long as they are entertained and believe,
Their needs are represented...
By one presenting them,
From either the Big House...
Or from under the Big Top to trick,
Dupe and fool at their expense!
