Beyond The Fog Poem by Kanwaljit Bhullar

Beyond The Fog

'Beyond the Fog' is a meditation on solitude, uncertainty, and the quiet strength that emerges when one walks alone through life's obscurities. Written first in Punjabi and then rendered into English, the poem reflects the journey from darkness into light - where loneliness becomes a companion, and hope flickers like a distant flame.

As an author and poet, I often explore the psychological landscapes of suspense and introspection. This piece captures the cinematic imagery of fog and emptiness, yet turns toward resilience and renewal. It is a reminder that even the deepest fog eventually lifts, revealing paths of courage and hope.

Beyond the Fog
(Where solitude meets the light)

Fog…deep, endless fog…
I walked alone within it,
The path visible only to my feet,
Ahead…nothing…left and right…emptiness,
Turning back, my gaze collided with the fog,
And returned to me.
No sound, no bird in flight,
Loneliness felt strangely sweet.
If life were always like this, perhaps better…
One learns to live…alone.
Yet within the fog,
A single streak of light appears,
Glimmering from afar,
Like a message of hope.
Solitude feels like a friend,
But dreams reveal other roads.
Even from darkness,
A new dawn peeks through.
The fog slowly lifts,
Around me…shadows of trees and thickets,
As if a crowd has gathered.
The footsteps of the lone traveler
Grow stronger now.
Thus…
Life teaches:
Fog never lasts forever.
To live is to live well…
With hope.
