Birthdays Poem by Marilyn Jean

Birthdays

Mine then yours
A little something
Waits for you
Not much
Maye you won't like
Or maybe declined it
In full sight
No lie, I said
No apparent reaction
But the mood turned grey
Tonight I heard
Mine had been forgotten
How can one forgets
Things like this
Anniversaries, birthdays
Mother's any other days
This has been tough
Never expect
Then realized
I got a nothing
And 49 tomorrow
