Birthing, Living And Dying Alone Poem by Emma Beverage

Birthing, Living And Dying Alone

Rating: 5.0

Half listening to the radio
tonight in my solitude.
A song plays that I don't know.
the singer is unknown too.

The truth in the words, wise and strong.
Made me stop for a moment,
ache for a time, forgotten and gone.
emotions long ago lost, exhausted and spent.

For a moment I remembered an old heartbreak
The singer sang about being alone.
Beautiful words that made my heart ache.
Birthing, living and dying alone.

Struck like lightening reverberating,
in the grand canyon that once held my heart.
I am transported to a place where,
I have not forgotten you at all.

In order to live, I buried you.
Surrendered to life as it is.
Accepted reality and moved on,
until I hear a song like this.

This is a powerfully sad poem. One of the best I have ever read.
