Bison Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Bison

Bison

Wonder if was dream
Or result of carving
Into the history
Of huge Prairie

Whatever

Ran across and grazed
Buffalo, millions
And hunters
Indigenous
Had smart trapping…

Ponds and pots
And
Also
Commune with shouting
Scaring the big beast…

Bison ran
Unaware of trap
Made of wood
Walls covered with skin
Of their kin…

The locals caught and killed
Used every bit and piece
To be used as daily
Food and need…

Was no waste
Not a bit …

Then came horse and riders
They became the hunters

Hey, hey, hey…
With shot guns
Fell the largest of all
Like marble in water
Kicked and died…

In dream
Those big eyes
Of the horse,
Oval, shined
And in it
Bowed a bull…

They spoke without words
Talked…Untold…

"Watch bro…"
"Be careful…"
"Don't trust…"

They spoke of mankind
Broken in the heart, they defined:
"This white and pale skin,
Golden hair,
With oceans in his face,
Has the soul evil, is devil! "

The two talked,
As saw the horse and dog…

Don't trust
Don't trust
Don't trust
The mankind…

Felt it was a nightmare
Jumped and sat straight
Looked at wall in glare!

Ran frames one by one
Of man and animals
And trees and the mines.

I whispered:
Don't trust
Don't trust
Don't trust
The mankind…
