Black and White
In the old-days'-schools
Children had notebooks
Always pages were white
And blue, most of lines,
But the papers were white.
For reading and learning
Important were writings
And mostly in Black…
My brother Ahmad
Used Green for writing
On the same White pages.
The law was straight:
"White is more spread."
If approved or against
Whiteness meant the power.
"But the White is blank, "
I said and was spanked.
Our system had given
Signature to US:
"Surrender, Capitulate! "
We had to learn reading
Between line and hiding:
"The not-said, no inking."
All colours were honest
With the hearts of mirror
They spoke in your face
But White was dishonest
Never said, yet claimed:
"I am Law and Order! "
At last, and finally, when I learn
To read Whites, discover
Between lines, wished its death!
