Blanket Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Blanket

Blanket

Serious and jealous
-I lied to look, observe.

Anxiously laid me there
-on grass and watched the
-dancing leaves' miracle.

Patiently saw, thought of
-the greens warming up
-underneath blanket…
-thick and soft, in colours
-of yellow, brown, red.

Those babies waved goodbye
-as soldiers head for war…

They knew life would end;
-no return when fallen!

The leaves made blanket
-with many of layers.
-Those under, motionless.

Possibly, some shouted
-but I heard them whisper:
- "Must find way to return
-to the arms of mother."

Few leaves were wiser
-one sounded to lecture:
- "…so, degrade and decay
-to become soil, water…"

Sang two songs choir:
- "If consumed…"
- "By roots and branches."

I got up, departed
-for heading to my bed
-then, me and my pillow,
-hugged tightly and cuddled.
