Blind Rulers Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Blind Rulers

Rating: 4.0

Blind rulers

If ruler is blind
He can never find
The plight of people
Who really struggle in life?

Once popular leaders
Turn dictators later on
They forget their hard days
And find the luxurious ways

The people have witnessed struggle days
Sacrificed their youth and led in hard ways
Now came the time to relax
But what happened in recent days?

The bread has become dearer
The life has become harsher
The corruption is on higher scale
The fate is now written on wall

We have witnessed Emergency during Indira* Gandhi's rule
We have now seen Robert Mugabe's autocratic rule
The people have revolted and restored to new regime
It is expected that some relief shall be provided to them

You can fool the public only once
At the outset, you shall have positive stance
But later on, you become intolerant and fail to provide stability
Here you commit errors and lose the popularity

*Indira Gandhi: - former prime minister of India
