Blink Of An Eye Poem by Danny The Dreamer Boyd

Blink Of An Eye

I felt myself head over heels
The moment I laid eyes on you,
And now, attempting how it feels
To love, I'll show; to live—anew…

It seems that I have lived in cold,
And mediocre deemed divine,
Mistaken rusty brass for gold;
Why, then you kissed these lips of mine!

I wish I'd gone but deaf or blind
Before I laid my eyes on you:
You broke my shaky peace of mind,
You lit me up out of the blue!

Am I supposed to love again?
How when no one can measure up!
With ease you did sedate my pain,
Likewise made my heart move—then stop…

I felt things I have ne'er before:
Enslaved right after one embrace;
Whip me with love, I'd suffer more
If I was not under your grace.

It seems that I have loved you so
In many lives before this one;
It broke my heart to watch you go—
I live in dusk, my setting sun!

I wish I'd gone yet deaf or blind
Before I lost myself in you;
One look, one touch, two souls entwined,
Two hearts not ever passion knew!

I was torn 'tween you and the sea,
You and the mountains and the stream;
The fact that you would fall for me
Fell on my senses as a dream…

Not once I thought that this was real—
Still can't, because you are not here!
I'll do my best my demons lull
When me they fill with doubt and fear.

I wish I could just press rewind,
Oh, since my days of bliss are through!
At least I'm glad that now I'm blind,
Or having eyes only for you…

If only I had known that time
Like lightning, why, would pass us by:
I would have held you more sublime,
And never dared to blink an eye.

You were the first thing and the last,
You were my gushing, breathing air,
Well, after you my soul has passed—
I'm broken, drowning in despair.

When will you blow life back in me?
When will you shine and end my woe?
Won't you vow not to let me be?
Will you shun how my love does show?

I yearn for you, I long, I ache,
I hunger for your paradise;
I realize how much's at stake—
I'm willing all to sacrifice.

It seems that I did just exist,
Until you came into my life:
I know now everything I've missed,
I know how to resolve my strife.

I wish I sometime soon would find
Those diamond eyes in front of me,
And being head o'er heels, confined:
I'd choose you over mount or sea…
