Boatman Poem by Debbrata Sarkar

Boatman

Rating: 5.0

I'm the boatman all over the time
Transform the single day to sublime.
After toiling dawn to dask,
I carry people on it.
I'm the boatman, 'tis my task.

They give me one or two pennies
To grow my income lavish.
In it the schoolboys cross the river
And traders go to sell goods.
I won't quit it ever.

Again the criminals take my support
Though I don't fell comfort
Ends in smoke my claim
Nothing to say I have
They leave for me only blame.

I float like the moss on the sea.
Unlike people I have family.
As the wave kisses my boat
Poverty does the same.
Oh! I haven't any coat.

No church for me, nor any creed
Respectful I am without any greed.
That the wise men say
I reach every bank
But nowhere can I stay.
