Book Openings Poem by Andy Brookes

Book Openings

Explanations are dear reader open in in interpretation
think what you will but we learn for others.
but then satisfaction is not always guaranteed.

you don't, she said, ever read me anymore.
she rests on the shelf as dustaccumulates
her voice shrill and accusing
nor I says her companion a deep bass resonating
there is a chorus of 'nor me either.'

well imagination runs riot but theses musing are truthful

I wonder as I look a the tomes,
some so slim they disappear, unless you really look,
others so fat and overstuffed
some worn some not.
when I wonder did I stop reading them.

I take one down and blow dust off the cover.
house-working skills are not my forte but I digress
I read the first three poems and I am transported
I put it back and take out more to read.

Explanations are dear reader are open............
