Books Poem by Marilyn Lott

Rating: 4.3

I run my fingers over
The covers
Each one holds a mystery
Inside is an unfamiliar
Story unfolding in its pages
My mind prepares itself
For far off places
Famous people
Unrequited love
I can pick a topic
And as if by magic
There it is before me
Waiting for me to open the cover
Slowly or quickly
The choice is mine
To fill my mind with
Its message
Lord, thank you
For giving me the ability
To read,
The curiosity
To wonder,
The love of life
To appreciate,
The treasures
Within the pages
God bless those who
Take the time to create
And put down on paper
Their messages
Good or bad
Sweet or sinful
Because each one of us
Can choose our page
And be joyful
In the newfound
Message.
And God bless those who
Teach others to read.

I am addicted to books. What I am today is because of all the books that came my way. I take this moment to pray along with you for all those who have made it possible. Thank you for sharing... A sweet 10.

Marilyn, This is a fine piece. Please don't take my little jabs to heart in the wrong fashion. Don't stop writing. I hope you will understand that my thoughts originate from a readers point. That said I am breaking my own little one a day rule to post a new poem that I hope will state it in a more palatable manner. (If you read it you shall discover the pun) It is titled: I Have Been Eating Poetry Please consider it a means to make amends
