Born In The Wrong Place Poem by Francis Duggan

Born In The Wrong Place

Born in the wrong place they must battle the odds
The forsaken people of the lesser gods
For months on end the sun has burned in the clear sky
And the crops did not grow since the ground was too dry,
In their bare sunbaked fields for months nothing did grow
And of hardship and hunger these people do know
Through the unsheltered camps they live in the hot tropical wind blows
Born in the wrong place such is life one suppose
They don't enter our thoughts since from them we live far
We were born in the right place how lucky we are
But then the wise will tell you that life is a chance
And that they are the victims of bad circumstance
And an uncertain future is their lot to face
The unfortunate people born in the wrong place.
