Boyhood (Novelinee) Poem by Gert Strydom

Boyhood (Novelinee)

As a boy I lived in the midlands
not very far from the blue raging sea,
life was carefree without any demands,
in the mountains did find some tranquillity
and a reel and rod was like a new toy
while beautiful and lovely were the days
and the fish in the river brought some joy
while meadows and high hillocks were my ways,
while I enjoyed the summer's hot rays.
