Bread Crumb Circus Poem by Buddy Bee Anthony

Bread Crumb Circus

You fed greedily
from off of those hampered by the
conditions of their recovery
Only to find you're constricted by
the restrictions of your discovery
Having arrived into the game
like a bejeweled pawn
declaring yourself Godhead To The Board.
Quirky, uncompromising and enigmatic
With spaced and repetitive guitar strokes
of dissonant disregard,
you materialize
tsunami's of roving, junkie followers.
Where the idle rich and their chosen
have gathered to be illuminated
by your Alpine beauty.
Bred from a rare
application of wisdom fused thrust,
You laid the fodder
for the beasts you created
Their marrow sucked dry
by the masses you jaded
As your legions
steadily reproduced and multiplied
The numbers of your minions
keep expanding to past bursting at your gate
The faithful gather at
your altar
like spectators at a Royal execution.
Just the mention of your name
vulcanizes the swarm
into a frothing,
spitting, frenzy
And they keep coming
across ocean
river
and tide
From city to town
Bus stop to train stop
Train stop
to truck stop
Crying for
more and more
buckets of you...

Mercifully, the blade of your curtain
finally comes down
leaving your flock
shredded and
shell shocked
As cadaver blue, fleets
of dumb-struck, conscripts
carve away layer upon layer
of flesh from the dead
and rotting.

As a lone elder peyote chewing warrior
begins his Ghost Dance
praying to his Holy Spirit
that he might acquire
one backstage pass
to your next bread crumb circus
so as to get close enough
to end you.
