Break (Le Romaniti) Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Break (Le Romaniti)

Them Babylonians, so phony, their found a thief
Them Romans pagan cause they got the mark of the beast
Got too much spirit, I won't ever be on a leash
Nubian cultures come with power lots of prestige
Caribs like me are feral
fate of Rome under Nero
Turn back the hands of time
with the hour set to zero
dislike the alterations
made to fit your narrative
dislike the alterations
where no truth would ever live
Crown on my head
ambitious ones
have tried to steal it from me
I don't come with a price tag
I come to conquer
No time to squander
What I see,
Curious,
Has my mind to wonder
Hello, we're all equal
Keep it real with people
You've fallen for evil
Cause you stand for nothing
I'm going kick,
I'm going scream
I'm alive continue
Harriets dream
I break, I break
I break, I break
Away
I break, I break
I break, ye all break,
Come break, away
I break, I break, away
Three hundred
Sixty -five days
Wake up people let me have your attention
Come all gather, all the better to listen
If yuh wanna rise, yuh gotta switch yuh position
Come break from the binds of inflicted division
When you do no right,
you'll see it comeback to bite ya
Ghosts of demons past,
You'll see it's come to incite ya
I might decide to have some sympathy
Yuh couldn't love thy brother as thyself
instead, yuh hate thy brother as thyself
Just being a fraud
is who you are...
Camouflage your feelings killing pharaohs
Humanity isn't found in you
Civility isn't found in you
Protecting the throne
The world isn't a paradise
You let the man create your life
The gardens green but isn't nice
what's charming has you enticed
Ask them, "who are you? "
None will know themselves
Blind is the fool
disregarding help
Ask them, "who are you? "
None have loved themselves
