Break Of Day Poem by Gert Strydom

Break Of Day

As the rays of the morning sun turns on,
fall through the window on your face,
your presence brings to me amazing grace
and love is still present when the night is gone,

when the sun blazes on you, my only one
who brings light in to my life’s darkest space,
I have to leave to work at another place
and let you be for some hours alone,

in moments when business takes precedence
and we are removed in space, place and thought
when that which is between you and me
and everything that we hold dear and in confidence
to standstill is brought
by a career’s claims on what love is meant to be.
