Breaking While Breathing - Poem by Julie West

Hear it beating faster
My mind is a disaster
Whenever we're together
I hate to sever

Your smell still literally on my skin
It's something I'm addicted to
Makes my eyes flood
Because I remember

I'll see my wounds turn to blood
As these memories remind me why
I'm still in love
Remind me why
And remind me why my heart is breaking

While I'm still breathing
I can hear your heart beating
When we're close
Yet so far

So breaking while breathing
I'm still seeing
But I'm barely believing
