Brian Clough On Closing Ranks Poem by DM W

Brian Clough On Closing Ranks

Rating: 5.0

Brian Clough: that utter genius of
A football manager closed ranks because,
When the going got tough, he wanted his teams
To retreat from the limelight and the extreme,
Intrusive press attention. How right he
Was to do so! Consequently, when I feel
Stressed out by this maddening society,
I stay at home and simply write poetry.

A most reflective poem Dominic and one that some or even many poets might agree with. We all require a bolthole or man-cave to retreat to away from noise and societies constant pressures, to gather one's thoughts then write or whatever. And Cloughie was unique and a true genius standalone and Forest did the European double in 79/80 and lets not forget the legendary Trevor Francis too. A fine poem and great memories of the great man and his achievements.10+ and many thanks.
