Broken Masterpiece Poem by Abbie Barrios

Broken Masterpiece

Rating: 5.0

You told me I was a masterpiece
A masterpiece just waiting to be noticed
You told me that I am the most perfectly imperfect art you've ever seen
I was dazed. I was under your spell.
I became static for months
I've waited all day and all night for you my love
But where are you now?
I haven't seen you in days
Nobody's admiring your so-called masterpiece
As I saw myself in the mirror
I was hit by a realization
I saw myself tainted
I was ruined
You've broken your masterpiece
I'm a hideous broken canvass
Waiting to be dumped like a trash
But you know what breaks me even more?
Is that when I looked at the far side of the room, in the exhibit full of masterpieces
You were there
Admiring the beauty of another masterpiece.
