Broken Old Ladder Poem by Helena Way

Broken Old Ladder

Rating: 5.0

I see you standing right next to her
She stares into your eyes so deeply
You take her hand and walk together
Flowing into the corner beside me

What would it take for you to be mine?
I dare not take her from you
For the only way I see us forever
Is her to be taken straight from the picture

What monster I have become?
The thoughts my heart put in my head
They seem so glorious from the creature perspective
I wish me not to become that way
But I fear I have caught the virus

So, Lord what shall you do?
Take me from this state
For what is the reason I suffer this way
Is there something I have done?
Do you wish it me to pay?

So as I walk down this lonely street,
Thoughts of you in my head
I see an angel stare my way
Calling me down to rest

I say, oh Angel, I’m so ready
He says, I take you no where
You move along with your life, though tattered
You keep on climbing that broken old ladder

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I love that the last line of the poem is the title. It all leads up to that so well. Great poem!

Sad poem, but ends happily.

Life is not broken old ladder, It's a beautiful stairway as well. It's good that the Angel advised you to move along with your life.
