Bucket Tales: Pip Bucket Poem by H E Alexander

Bucket Tales: Pip Bucket

Young Pip Bucket signed a contract
to play for West Ham U,
but when he was due to get his debut
the lad went and got the flu!

Soon enough he shook the virus off
and was ready to play his part,
but alas poor lad was oh so sad,
when he wasn't picked to start!

Pip sat on the bench, his keenness quenched,
and watched the first half without thrill.
but when the Ref blew (none too soon)
Pip's team were losing one-nil!

Now, Davy (Pip's dad) was slightly mad
and had vowed to fly into space,
thus, at the time for his son to shine,
he was at his launching place!

But all the same, Pip's moment came,
as his coach called for him to play;
shedding tracksuit and tying his boots:
he'd make everyone proud this day!

A goal behind, the Ref would need to be blind,
not to award Pip a penalty kick,
but with the final whistle nigh, Pip kicked it so high,
that it struck his old man's spaceship!

Hit with such force, the ball knocked Davy off course,
so he had to crash land on the moon.
Now, on a clear night, with the atmospherics right,
you can still see him wave like a loon!
