Bucket Tales: The Duchess Bucket Poem by H E Alexander

Bucket Tales: The Duchess Bucket

Duchess Bucket licked a stamp and stuck it
on an important letter to the King,
with a nice letterhead, the missive read:
"I will marry your first offspring.

"Furthermore, " as an encore,
she'd penned in a persuasive tone:
"I am convinced, that me and the prince
should be next in line to the throne! "

The King deep sighed and soon replied
in a letter from a Royal address:
"Sorry, my dear, not what you want to hear,
"but they're each wed to a lovely Princess."

"Damn and blow it, I just knew it! "
the Duchess screamed at the Royal dispatch,
"It looks as if I, set my sights too high,
"to find my ideal noble match."

Now, further we must encroach on your trust
for alas, our lady is not of stately birth;
she was called that name (as a sort of game) ,
by her Uncle Bishop - for what it is worth.

However she, saw the opportunity
in using a royal title for gain;
"I'll take the helm, with a Prince of the realm, "
thought she, until the King thwarted her reign!

Then quite unprepared, she met the son of a Laird,
and they married (both in skirt and blouses) ,
but the groom and bride, then had to decide
just who was gonna wear the trouziz!

So, now we prevail to finish off this tale
with a request sent to the King late of hour:
granting her wish, the Duchess had Uncle Bish
imprisoned within the Tower!
