Many a scripture can one read,
Divergent be whose varied views,
The world's wise, varied be its creed,
Its wisdom weighs down to confuse.
Hindu monks walk in saffron wear,
The Buddhists in tawny yellow,
All-white is what some Jain may bear,
Some wear none but nimbus halo,
All managing to cloud my mind;
Whose word of wisdom to follow?
Who can help me higher to wind?
Who, here-aft, oh who can me show?
O delve unto thine own within,
And be thou thine own light serene.

Anand was Buddha's key disciple and an elder cousin. Seeing his master breathing his last, he felt a void without his guru's guiding spirit. It is then that Buddha uttered his last words: Be thou thine own light. He contemplated on these words and realized true knowledge within 24 hours of Buddha's death.

This poem of 2014 was recently revised, and the old deleted. In doing so the feedback of one poet also was deleted. I apologies, but is there any way out?
This world and teachings of so many can be confusing. Lord Buddha’s words are most precious to keep in mind always.
Yes indeed, but after all is said and done, the light has to come from within.
All managing to cloud my mind/Whose word of wisdom to follow? /Who can help me higher to wind? Absolutely brilliant sir! A fabulous work....10

The light of Lord Buddha is worded wonderfully. A beautiful sonnet " Be thine own light." -A great preaching.
